Church of Good Thief Rectory
This is the rectory of the city’s second oldest Catholic church in which services began in 1894. The church and the rectory have been designated under the Ontario Heritage Act since 1978. The former Parish Hall, a former stable have been demolished. In 2019 a conversion from a single residence to a 4-unit apartment dwelling while maintaining the ambiance of the original brick residence was carried out. The Rectory units were all occupied by Christmas 2021. It took four years to complete this project.
The Frontenac Heritage Foundation awarded the church in 1996 and the repurposing project of the rectory in 2022 to commend it for reusing original limestone and brick architectural elements and exposed wooden beams to create unique units that retain period features. More can be found about it in our awards section.
