The Fairfield-Gutzeit House is situated along the Loyalist Parkway waterfront, on a beautiful property that overlooks Lake Ontario, in the village of Bath. The House dates back to 1796 when it was built by two brothers, William Jr. and Benjamin Fairfield whose father had come to Upper Canada as part of the Loyalist migration. The Fairfield-Gutzeit House was designated in 1992 under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. It also holds an easement with the Ontario Heritage Trust from 1998. The Fairfield-Gutzeit House underwent a major restoration in 2023-2024. For their vision of preserving and protecting a valuable community cultural and built heritage asset, the Loyalist Township was honoured with an award from the Frontenac Heritage Foundation in 2025. More information can be found in our awards section.
