Willowmere, 239 Main Street, is located on the west side of Main Street in the Village of Barriefield. It was designed by architect John Hendry and built in 1818-1819 as a one-and-a-half storey house. Raised to two full storeys later in the 19th century, this handsome limestone house, with a full-width, one-storey verandah, was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act by-law 1979. It is a two-storey structure with a side-gable plan and symmetrical three-bay façade. It was once known as the Richmond Hotel. In 2023 and 2025 the owners undertook restoration of both of the chimneys and that careful preservation work received an award from the Frontenac Heritage Foundation in 2025. More information is provided in our awards section.
