21 McDonald Ave. and 62 Baiden St. are the addresses for the new six-plex buildings. The Foundation awards the new development an Honourable Mention for its many positive benefits for the neighbourhood. In the past, the Foundation has in this way, recognized new construction in heritage districts or heritage character areas.

The 2 new six-plexes with their brick and limestone veneer were designed to compliment the materials in the Rectory and Church. These modern infill buildings are compatible with the surrounding neighbourhood and streetscape. Beautiful views of the iconic bell tower of the Church can be seen from all units in the two 6-plex buildings. The location of the new buildings has created an enclosed precinct
around the church that has a human scale that melds well with the adjacent land uses. The new buildings also complement the cultural heritage value of the Portsmouth Village.
